The Workshop Mechanic/Mechanic position requires a hands-on technician capable of diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a broad range of vehicles and equipment. The role involves conducting inspections to identify mechanical defects, carrying out fleet maintenance, and performing quality control checks following repairs. The successful candidate will also be required to diagnose and repair vehicle electrical and electronic systems using modern diagnostic equipment and software.
To qualify for the position, candidates must have a Craft Certificate, Trade Test Certificate, or Diploma in Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years' practical experience in vehicle maintenance and repair is also required, along with strong diesel mechanical diagnostic and repair skills and good auto-electrical fault-finding and repair experience. A valid driver's license and registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) as a Technician, Craftsperson, or equivalent category are also essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to possess certain personal qualities, including honesty, dependability, pro-activeness, and discipline, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Experience working on electric forklifts, electric vehicles, battery systems, or industrial electrical equipment will be an added advantage.
