The first edition of the Bompbri Cultural Festival was launched on September 27, 2026, in the village of Bompbri, in the commune of Ambel, Karmsin province. The event was attended by Mauritania's Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, the Government Spokesperson, Housseyn Ould Medou, and other high-ranking officials. He suggested that traditional crafts be transformed into cultural industries, oral narratives be documented, and natural sites be utilized to promote domestic and cultural tourism.
The minister stressed that the desired culture today is one that preserves memory, opens new avenues for development and creativity, and celebrates local specificity while fostering a sense of belonging to a unified nation. This vision aligns with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani's perspective, which considers culture a fundamental link between national unity and development.
Ambel commune's mayor, Al-Qutb Ould Balyel, described the cultural event as a platform for sharing ideas, presenting performances, and engaging in discussions on social, cultural, and developmental issues that concern the community and contribute to its cohesion and progress. The mayor and festival organizers praised the achievements in Mauritania, particularly in Bompbri, under President El Ghazouani's leadership.
