The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has announced an invitation for businesses to register as approved suppliers and service providers for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 financial years. This registration, under Tender Reference No. KFS/02/2026-2027, covers 62 categories split across open and reserved groups. The categories range from firefighting equipment to legal and audit consultancy services. Businesses interested in registering must be registered on the electronic government procurement portal at tenders.go.ke.

The registration process involves downloading documents from the KFS website at www.kenyaforestservice.org or from the Public Procurement Portal for Categories A and B, which are available free of charge. Completed documents must be sealed in plain envelopes, clearly marked with the tender name, category number, and category description, and addressed to the Chief Conservator of Forests at KFS headquarters, Karura, off Kiambu Road, Nairobi. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

The open categories for goods and services are extensive. The open goods section lists 19 categories, including the supply of office furniture, firefighting equipment, biodegradable seedling tubes and bags, Jet A1 fuel, medical supplies, tree seeds and seedlings, and bottled drinking water. The services and works section is considerably larger, with 30 categories covering areas such as legal services, vehicle and motorcycle repair, environmental impact assessment consultancy, aircraft maintenance, event management, auctioneering, asset valuation, road construction, and financial, legal, and governance audits.

Firms applying for more than one open category must submit a separate registration document for each. Applications bundled across multiple categories within a single document will be automatically rejected. The KFS has structured the registration across three broad groupings: open-category goods, open-category services and works, and a reserved section exclusively for firms registered under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) programme.

Thirteen categories fall under the reserved section, open only to AGPO-certified companies. These include the supply of office stationery, computer consumables, cleaning materials, and foodstuffs, as well as the provision of cleaning services, garbage collection, video and audio production, and general printing services. Businesses in the reserved category must hold valid AGPO registration to qualify.

The opening of registration documents will take place immediately after the deadline at the KFS headquarters main boardroom, and applicants or their representatives are welcome to attend. The KFS encourages businesses to take advantage of these opportunities to provide goods and services to the agency. The registration is a two-year opportunity covering the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 financial years.

The Kenya Forest Service's move aims to enhance its procurement processes and provide a platform for businesses to engage with the government. By registering, businesses can position themselves to provide essential goods and services to the KFS. The deadline for submission is fast approaching, and interested businesses are urged to prepare and submit their documents promptly to avoid disqualification.
