On October 6, 2026, the NGO "Cœur de maman, amour d'enfant" organized free medical consultations for children suffering from cerebral palsy at the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Bouaké, Côte d'Ivoire. This event was held to mark the International Day of Cerebral Palsy. The consultations brought together several specialists, including neurosurgeons, neuropediatricians, pediatricians, physiotherapists, psychomotor therapists, speech therapists, and psychiatrists.

The initiative aimed to provide vulnerable families with access to multidisciplinary consultations, promoting better care for their children. According to Marcelle Gbahou, president of the NGO, the event allowed families to benefit from a range of medical disciplines in one place. Over 40 children with cerebral palsy participated in the consultations.

The NGO plans to provide follow-up care for the children who participated in the consultations to improve their physical and mental health. This activity is part of a series of events planned by the NGO in Bouaké to mark the International Day of Cerebral Palsy. On October 7 and 8, the NGO will organize a sensitization campaign in maternity wards and markets in Bouaké.

The campaign will focus on cerebral palsy, its early signs, and the importance of early intervention. Marcelle Gbahou emphasized that children with cerebral palsy should be loved and supported, not rejected or abandoned. The campaign also aims to educate families on the signs of cerebral palsy that can be detected in infants.

Early detection can help prevent the condition from worsening and improve the child's quality of life. The events will conclude on October 9 with a conference at the Jacques Aka Cultural Center in Bouaké. The conference will feature scientists, doctors, and coaches who will discuss cerebral palsy, its manifestations, and how to support affected children.

A march will precede the conference, featuring children with cerebral palsy and their caregivers. The march aims to raise awareness and show the community that children with cerebral palsy deserve love, care, and inclusion. The NGO "Cœur de maman, amour d'enfant" was established in 2021 to provide humanitarian and medical support to families with children suffering from cerebral palsy.

The organization is committed to helping these families and promoting a more inclusive society. By providing free medical consultations and follow-up care, the NGO is making a positive impact on the lives of children with cerebral palsy in Côte d'Ivoire.
