On Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Istanbul, Guinea's Minister of Industry and Trade, Aboubacar KOUROUMA, held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Prof. Dr. Ömer BOLAT, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye. The two ministers discussed the strong relations between Guinea and Türkiye, congratulating each other on significant milestones. Minister KOUROUMA commended Minister BOLAT for organizing the 42nd session of the COMCEC and on the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.

The meeting focused on the substantial growth in bilateral trade between Guinea and Türkiye, which reached nearly $300 million in 2025. Both parties expressed their mutual ambition to increase this volume to $500 million, a goal set during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Guinea in 2016. Minister KOUROUMA emphasized the need for a balanced exchange, encouraging Turkish companies to invest in Guinea's productive sectors.

Minister KOUROUMA invited Turkish enterprises to invest in Guinea's construction materials, food processing, textiles, and local agricultural product transformation sectors. He also requested support for Guinean SMEs through technology transfer and technical training. Minister BOLAT mentioned concerns about the complexity of administrative procedures faced by Turkish investors in Guinea.

In response to Minister BOLAT's concerns, Minister KOUROUMA designated his Advisor as a dedicated contact person to oversee Turkish investors' files across various ministerial departments. Minister BOLAT invited Minister KOUROUMA to participate in the halal products fair, while Minister KOUROUMA extended an invitation for a Turkish business mission to explore investment opportunities in Guinea.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed on several key actions: designating a focal point for partnership follow-up, strengthening standardization cooperation, and pursuing efforts to reach $500 million in trade. They also committed to facilitating economic operator mobility, mobilizing Turkish industries to support Guinea's industrialization, and enhancing JETCO framework exchanges.

The two ministers further agreed to strengthen investment protection and deepen discussions on a non-double taxation convention. On Monday, November 2, 2026, Minister KOUROUMA will participate in the opening ceremony of the 42nd COMCEC session, presided over by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Through this engagement, Guinea aims to solidify its economic ties with Türkiye while advancing its industrial and commercial interests on the international stage, particularly within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
