Rwanda is participating in the 9th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in New Delhi, India, from November 2-5. The delegation, led by State Minister for Infrastructure Armand Zingiro, aims to strengthen partnerships and accelerate the adoption of solar power. The assembly brings together representatives from member countries and international partners to discuss expanding access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable solar energy.

The Rwandan delegation, including Ambassador to India Jacqueline Mukangira, will engage with member countries to review progress in global solar energy development and explore solutions to challenges affecting solar technology deployment. Key challenges include financing, infrastructure, and access to modern energy. The meeting provides a platform for Rwanda to explore partnerships, attract investment, and access technical expertise to support its renewable energy ambitions.

Rwanda's participation in the assembly aligns with its efforts to diversify its energy mix and advance sustainable development. The country seeks to accelerate solar power projects, expand electricity access in underserved communities, and reduce reliance on conventional energy sources. By engaging with international partners, Rwanda aims to mobilize financial resources, encourage private-sector participation, and promote technology transfer to make renewable energy solutions more accessible and affordable.

The assembly is taking place alongside the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 and the 4th International Green Hydrogen Conference. These parallel events bring together discussions on solar power, renewable energy technologies, and emerging clean-energy solutions. Rwanda may engage with investors, technology providers, and development partners interested in supporting Africa's energy transition.

The International Solar Alliance aims to promote cooperation among countries in the development and use of solar energy. As countries increasingly look to renewable energy to address energy security, climate change, and growing electricity demand, Rwanda's participation in the assembly presents opportunities for new cooperation, investment prospects, technical partnerships, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The outcomes of Rwanda's participation in the assembly could contribute to the country's efforts to address energy security and climate change. By leveraging partnerships and investments, Rwanda may accelerate its transition to renewable energy and achieve its sustainable development goals. The country's commitment to renewable energy aligns with global efforts to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and mitigate climate change.

Rwanda's engagement with the International Solar Alliance and participation in the parallel events in New Delhi demonstrate its commitment to advancing sustainable development and addressing energy security and climate change.
