Gadaa Bank S.C., one of Ethiopia's youngest financial institutions, has reported a significant growth in its deposit portfolio. The bank's total deposits reached Birr 11.89 billion for the 2025/26 fiscal year, representing a 68% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is a notable achievement for the bank, which has been expanding its operations in the country.

In addition to the surge in deposits, Gadaa Bank's total assets also expanded by 66% to reach Birr 16.79 billion as of June 30, 2026. This is up significantly from Birr 10.14 billion in the prior period. The bank's gross revenue also climbed by 77% to reach Birr 2.96 billion. These growth figures demonstrate the bank's rapid expansion and increasing presence in the Ethiopian banking sector.

Gadaa Bank's pre-tax profit surged by over 135% to hit Birr 1.05 billion, up from Birr 444.8 million the previous year. The bank's net profit after tax subsequently reached Birr 759.23 million. According to Board Chairman Hassan Hussen, this stellar growth was driven by diversified revenue streams, effective foreign exchange management, and high transaction volumes across various digital banking channels.

The bank's foreign exchange management generated USD 85.1 million, contributing to its growth. Gadaa Bank's loans, advances, and interest-free financing portfolios advanced to Birr 6.11 billion, while the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio remained exceptionally low at just 0.7%. This indicates the bank's effective risk management and lending practices.

Gadaa Bank's rapid customer acquisition and branch network expansion have also contributed to its growth. The institution officially crossed the milestone of one million customers, bringing its total account holder base to over 1 million. This achievement demonstrates the bank's ability to attract and retain customers.

The bank's total capital reached Birr 2.77 billion, with paid-up capital standing at Birr 1.65 billion. Gadaa Bank maintained a healthy capital adequacy ratio of 12.3%, indicating its financial stability and ability to absorb potential risks. This growth in capital and assets has positioned the bank for continued expansion and success.

Gadaa Bank's growth is a positive indicator for the Ethiopian banking sector. The bank's effective management and diversified revenue streams have enabled it to achieve significant growth in a short period. As the bank continues to expand its operations, it is likely to play an increasingly important role in Ethiopia's financial sector.
