The Egyptian Ministry of Housing, through the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Fund, has revealed the necessary documents for low-income individuals to apply for rental housing units in new cities and governorates. The ministry has offered 15,000 housing units, with applications open until October 28, 2026. To apply, individuals must submit required documents through the Egypt Digital platform.
The required documents include a completed and signed registration form for the housing unit and an acknowledgment, along with a copy of the national ID card, valid for both the applicant and spouse, if applicable. Additionally, applicants must provide a certificate proving their annual or monthly net income, stamped, signed, and dated by their employer, including details of their work address and any additional income sources.
For those working in the private sector, a certified certificate from their employer is required, detailing their basic data and net income. The Housing Ministry emphasizes that all documents must be submitted in PDF format, with a maximum size of 2MB per document, and uploaded in a single file. Applicants must also pay a registration fee of 365 Egyptian pounds and a 10,000-pound security deposit.
The rental payment system involves paying 25% of the applicant's monthly net income as rent, with an annual increase of 7%. The fund will cover the remaining rent, up to a maximum of 100,000 pounds over the rental period. Applicants must also pay 250 pounds per month for maintenance, management, and collection.
The Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Fund will verify applicants' information through a field investigation conducted by the Ministry of Social Solidarity or contracted companies. Once approved, applicants will be required to sign a contract, pay the first month's rent, and cover collection and management fees.
The fund will disburse rental support, up to a maximum of 100,000 pounds, based on the applicant's income level and unit size, over the rental period. Beneficiaries must pay the full monthly rent after exhausting the allocated support, provided that 25% of their monthly income does not cover the full rent.
The Egyptian government aims to provide affordable housing options for low-income citizens through this initiative. The Housing Ministry's efforts focus on ensuring transparent and efficient application processes, with clear requirements and guidelines for applicants.
