The Egyptian government has continued to implement development plans in various sectors related to human development and improving service levels for citizens. The healthcare sector has seen significant investments, with spending exceeding 1.6 trillion Egyptian pounds. Nearly 1,300 health projects have been implemented at a cost of 180 billion pounds. The "100 Million Health" initiative has provided over 276 million medical services.
Egypt has made notable progress in healthcare, including the eradication of the hepatitis C virus. The first phase of comprehensive health insurance has been implemented in six governorates, benefiting over 5.4 million people. The second phase aims to cover 12 million citizens. Efforts have also been made to achieve self-sufficiency in medicine, with the opening of the "Egyptian Pharmaceutical City" (Gipto Pharma), one of the largest pharmaceutical cities in the Middle East.
The education sector has witnessed investments of over 2.5 trillion pounds, with the addition of around 100,000 classrooms. The number of universities has increased from 50 to 128, including private and technological universities, and schools of applied technology. The curriculum and digital transformation have also been developed.
The "Decent Life" initiative aims to develop rural Egypt, targeting 4,500 villages in 175 centers to serve around 60 million citizens. The second phase includes 1,477 villages with over 23,000 projects and investments exceeding 350 billion pounds. These projects cover drinking water, sanitation, natural gas, schools, health units, service complexes, post offices, roads, and housing.
Egypt's development plans extend to Sinai and Upper Egypt, with investments of over 1.1 trillion pounds in Sinai and 1.8 trillion pounds in Upper Egypt. Upper Egypt accounts for 68% of the allocations for the first phase of "Decent Life". The Suez Canal has achieved record revenues, exceeding $9.4 billion in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
In social protection, spending on support and social protection has exceeded 4.5 trillion pounds. The "Takaful and Karama" program has reached around 4.7 million families, equivalent to 18 million citizens, with allocations of 54 billion pounds. Over 16 million citizens have benefited from the "Egyptians Against Hunger" fund, and more than 1.5 million integrated services cards have been issued for people with disabilities.
The state has also focused on food security, spending over 1.15 trillion pounds on subsidies. The production of subsidized bread has reached 250-270 million loaves per day, and the number of ration cards has increased to around 24 million. The justice sector has seen significant developments, with the number of courts rising to 320, and the expansion of digitalized real estate registry offices to over 600.
