Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, a former Personal Assistant to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has announced his decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, stated that his decision was based on his personal political conviction and belief in the direction of the APM. He made this announcement during a press conference in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to Sangogade, his decision to back and support Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the APM gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, was informed by his assessment of political developments in the state. He expressed his desire to provide a platform for young people to participate actively in politics. Sangogade emphasized that his decision was independently taken and not a result of any crisis with his former principal, Adelabu.
Sangogade explained that his political realignment was about his own assessment of the political environment and his decision to identify with the APM and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. He stated that the APM offered a platform through which the aspirations of young people could be pursued. Sangogade urged those who had joined the movement to become actively involved in politics rather than remaining passive observers.
The decision to leave the APC for the APM was formalized during the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan. The event, which was attended by hundreds of youths, traders, artisans, and other supporters, marked the reception of Sangogade and his supporters into the APM. The concert had the theme, “Young, United, Unstoppable (YUU),” and attracted thousands of supporters.
Sangogade declared his full support for the APM governorship candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Adekanmbi, and urged his supporters in all 33 local government areas of the state to rally behind the candidate. He emphasized that the outcome of the 2027 elections would have direct implications for the welfare, empowerment, and development of young people in Oyo State.
Sangogade stressed that his political movement should not be interpreted as a fallout with his former principal, Adelabu. He made it clear that his decision was independently taken and not a result of any crisis with Adelabu. Sangogade’s move is seen as a significant development in Oyo State politics, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching.
The massive turnout at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement concert was an indication of the level of mobilisation already taking place around the APM in Oyo State. Sangogade said the political mobilisation was not simply about moving from one political party to another, but about creating an organised platform through which young people could have a stronger voice in determining the leadership of the state and country.
