The Warrior Squad Foundation (WSF), a Ugandan non-profit organisation, is seeking a Project Volunteer to join its team in Kotido, Uganda. The volunteer will support the implementation of the KAREP project, which aims to contribute to the social, economic, and political transformation of pastoral communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for community mobilisation, field activity facilitation, data collection, and documentation.
The Project Volunteer will play a key role in supporting the Project Officer in the day-to-day implementation of KAREP activities. This will include mobilising Agro-Pastoral Farmer Field School (APFFS) groups and beneficiaries for project activities, meetings, and trainings. The volunteer will also assist in establishing and following up on farmer-managed Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) demonstration block farms and disseminating pre-season agro-weather advisories to farmer groups and community members.
The volunteer will be responsible for collecting and recording data on group attendance, participation rates, and activity progress using WSF tools. They will also assist in pre- and post-training assessments to measure changes in knowledge and practice among participants. Additionally, the volunteer will take photographs, capture success stories and case studies, and maintain accurate and well-organised field records and files for all project activities.
The Project Volunteer will work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation and Communications teams to support data flow and documentation. They will also serve as a link between WSF and the farmer groups, relaying feedback, concerns, and suggestions from communities to the project team. The volunteer will participate in weekly project team meetings and share updates on field activities.
To qualify for the position, candidates should have a certificate or diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, and previous volunteering or internship experience with an NGO or community-based project is an added advantage. The successful candidate will be fluent in English and Ngakarimojong, with basic computer skills and the ability to use mobile data collection tools.
The Project Volunteer will receive orientation on WSF policies, the KAREP project, and field procedures at the start of the placement. They will participate in project trainings and workshops on livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, VSLA methodology, gender, and conflict sensitivity. The volunteer will benefit from on-the-job mentoring and coaching by the Project Officer and the Programs team.
