On October 2, 2026, Mahdia Governor Anis Al-Adhari conducted a field visit to various healthcare facilities in the governorate, accompanied by regional health director Youssef Al-Badawi and local officials. The visit aimed to assess the readiness of several healthcare institutions in the Sidi Alwan and Al-Suwasi delegacies. Al-Adhari inaugurated the dental unit at Sidi Alwan's local hospital after completing renovation and maintenance work worth approximately 119,000 Tunisian dinars.

The governor also reopened the Sidi Alwan City Grade 2 Basic Health Center after a demolition and reconstruction project valued at around 750,000 dinars. An additional 50,000 dinars was allocated for equipment. The center features reception and pharmacy areas, a registration and waiting room, a treatment room, a doctor's office, a midwife's office, and a physical therapy room. These upgrades aim to improve healthcare services for residents.

Al-Adhari and his entourage then reviewed operations at the Sidi Alwan Basic Health Center, which underwent maintenance and renovation work worth 105,000 dinars. The center, opened on July 6, 2026, offers medical services, including a doctor's office, treatment room, pharmacy, midwife's office, and waiting area. The governor also inspected the Sidi Ali Ghadir Basic Health Center in Sidi Alwan, which was expanded, renovated, and equipped with a budget of 255,000 dinars.

The visit continued with an assessment of the Al-Saefat Basic Health Center in Sidi Alwan, which received 220,000 dinars for expansion, renovation, and maintenance. The center features a doctor's office, midwife's office, treatment room, pharmacy, registration area, and a dedicated room for expectant mothers. Furthermore, Al-Adhari reviewed progress on the Wadi Qlat Basic Health Center renovation project, valued at 170,000 dinars, with a 30% completion rate.

During the visit, the governor also evaluated the status of the currently closed Al-Saada Basic Health Center in Sidi Alwan. A temporary space is providing health services to residents pending the reconstruction and reclassification of the center from Grade 2 to Grade 4. In Al-Suwasi, Al-Adhari reopened the Al-Mansoura Basic Health Center after completing a 170,000-dinar maintenance, renovation, and expansion project.

Regional Health Director Youssef Al-Badawi stated that the healthcare infrastructure improvement program will continue in various areas of the governorate until 2028. The goal is to enhance patient reception conditions, improve healthcare quality, and make services more accessible to citizens. Al-Adhari praised the efforts made by healthcare officials and emphasized the importance of ongoing infrastructure development and equipment upgrades.

The governor highlighted the need to maintain the pace of project implementation and address potential challenges. The upgraded healthcare facilities are expected to significantly improve healthcare services for residents in Mahdia governorate.
