The Tunisian government's Fund for the Promotion of Exports (FOPRODEX) has launched an initiative to support craft exporters. As part of the 'Easy Export' program, FOPRODEX will provide a subsidy of up to 50% of transportation costs via the postal network. This move aims to boost the export of craft products. The program was presented during a workshop held in Tunis on October 5, 2026.

The 'Easy Export' program offers various forms of support to craft exporters. For advertising and promotional activities, the subsidy rate ranges from 50% to 70%. According to Mohamed Amine Ben Maouia, Deputy Head of Service at the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX), eligible companies must be based in Tunisia and majority-owned by Tunisian capital. They must also justify their activities to the relevant specialized agency.

To benefit from the 'Easy Export' program, craft businesses must register with the relevant authorities. They can approach the National Office of Crafts (ONAT) or CEPEX to be recorded in the center's database. A legal file will be created on their behalf, and they will be informed about available support programs. The program allows for the export of parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms.

The CEPEX responds to requests from the National Post Office within 48 hours to determine a company's eligibility for the program. Once eligibility is confirmed, the company automatically benefits from a 50% subsidy on shipping costs. The FOPRODEX covers the remaining half via the National Post Office. This streamlined process aims to facilitate exports for craft businesses.

The 'Easy Export' program is part of a larger effort to promote Tunisian crafts. The third edition of the ARTIcrea professional craft fair, held from October 5-11, 2026, showcases the sector's potential. The event features 228 craft enterprises from across the country, with 60% managed by women and 40% by university graduates.

The ARTIcrea fair provides a platform for craft businesses to network and explore export opportunities. The event highlights the diversity and quality of Tunisian crafts, ranging from traditional products to innovative designs. By supporting craft exporters, the government aims to increase the sector's contribution to the national economy.

The Tunisian government's support for craft exporters is expected to have a positive impact on the sector. By reducing transportation costs and providing promotional support, the 'Easy Export' program can help craft businesses expand their customer base and increase their exports. This, in turn, can lead to job creation and economic growth in the craft sector.
