The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) is expanding its efforts to provide dedicated electricity supply to more manufacturers, industries, and large commercial operators through its Eligible Customer Programme. This programme offers qualifying customers a reliable and predictable electricity supply under mutually agreed commercial arrangements. The initiative aims to support businesses that require a stable power supply to operate efficiently. NDPHC's Managing Director, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, announced this during the company's Customer Service Week, encouraging eligible businesses to take advantage of the programme.

The Eligible Customer Programme is designed to provide businesses with dedicated power supply and mutually agreed commercial terms. Adighije expressed her gratitude to existing customers for their trust and urged businesses yet to join to consider the programme to power their growth. The programme allows businesses to improve production planning, reduce dependence on alternative sources of electricity, and minimise operational uncertainty. This, in turn, can create greater room for business expansion and help drive economic growth.

NDPHC has an installed generation capacity of approximately 4,000MW from 10 power plants, comprising 28 gas turbines and three steam turbines. The company has intensified efforts to recover dormant capacity, rehabilitate underperforming plants, and improve the operational availability of its generation fleet. This includes the recent restoration of the 450MW Alaoji Open Cycle Power Plant in Abia State, which had been shut down in 2023 due to gas supply and metering disputes.

The restoration of the Alaoji power plant is a significant development in NDPHC's efforts to recover stranded generation capacity and increase the contribution of its existing assets to electricity supply. The company's Executive Director, Strategy & Commercial, Patrick Obahiagbon, emphasised the importance of a customer-focused culture in delivering value and strengthening relationships with stakeholders. He noted that the Eligible Customer Programme provides a more direct and commercially structured supply arrangement for qualifying consumers.

The Eligible Customer Programme allows electricity supply solutions to be aligned with the operational requirements of businesses. This can help eligible customers improve their production planning, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. NDPHC has identified additional generation capacity that can be unlocked through rehabilitation and optimisation of existing plants, improved gas availability, and the resolution of infrastructure constraints affecting power generation and evacuation.

NDPHC's efforts to expand its dedicated power supply to businesses and restore generation capacity are part of its commitment to strengthening the infrastructure required to deliver electricity to homes, businesses, and industries. The company remains focused on powering the nation's progress by improving the reliability and efficiency of its power generation and supply services. Adighije reiterated NDPHC's commitment to delivering value to its customers and stakeholders.

The company's Customer Service Week is an opportunity for NDPHC to engage with its customers, appreciate their loyalty, and encourage them to take advantage of its programmes and services. The Eligible Customer Programme is one of the initiatives aimed at providing businesses with reliable and efficient power supply solutions. Key initiatives by NDPHC include expanding its Eligible Customer Programme, restoring dormant generation capacity, and improving customer relationships.
