Tunisia will host an international workshop on date marketing and promotion from September 30 to October 1, 2026. The event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, the International Dates Council, and the Joint Professional Association for Dates. The workshop aims to explore ways to enhance the presence of dates in global markets and exchange experiences on best practices in marketing, promotion, and export.
The workshop will bring together representatives from member countries of the International Dates Council, as well as officials from public institutions, private sector companies, experts, professionals, and stakeholders in the date value chain. The event will be inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Azzedine Ben Cheikh, and will feature a keynote address by Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Executive Director of the International Dates Council.
The workshop's program includes panel discussions on accessing international markets, quality requirements, and compliance with standards, as well as marketing, export, and building value. The event also features meetings and partnerships between participants, allowing for the exchange of experiences and exploration of opportunities for cooperation and development in the date sector.
On the second day of the workshop, participants will visit a date conditioning and export unit in Beni Khalad, Nabeul Governorate, to learn about the unit's experience in date conditioning, valorization, and export. This visit aims to showcase best practices in date production and export.
The date sector is a significant component of Tunisia's agricultural activity, particularly in terms of exports. The development of marketing and promotion mechanisms, as well as increasing the value added to the product, are key to enhancing the competitiveness of Tunisian dates in foreign markets.
The workshop is part of efforts to support the development of the date sector in Tunisia and promote the country's dates globally. The event is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in date marketing and promotion.
The International Dates Council, which is co-organizing the workshop, plays a crucial role in promoting the global date industry. The council's efforts aim to enhance the competitiveness of dates in international markets and promote cooperation among date-producing countries.
