TotalEnergies Adnoc Marketing and Misr El-Kheir Foundation have joined forces to launch a comprehensive rehabilitation project for people with disabilities in Egypt's Sharqia governorate. The project, which was recently inaugurated, features specialized units that provide rehabilitation and support services for children. The initiative aims to have a tangible and sustainable impact on the beneficiaries, their families, and the surrounding community. The project's launch was attended by several high-ranking officials, including TotalEnergies Adnoc Marketing's General Manager, Eng. Motaz Nazal.
Since its inception, the project has already benefited 60 children, providing a total of 1,167 specialized services. The project's goal is to reach 100 beneficiaries in the next phase, expanding its services to include the town of Saud and surrounding areas. The project comprises three specialized rehabilitation units, including sensory integration, speech therapy, and skill development and learning difficulties units. These units offer a range of services tailored to the diverse needs of the children, supporting the development of their skills and abilities.
Eng. Motaz Nazal, General Manager of TotalEnergies Adnoc Marketing, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting initiatives that respond to the actual needs of local communities. "We believe that true social responsibility involves sustainable initiatives that leave a lasting impact, going beyond one-time support," he said. Nazal also highlighted the importance of the project's focus on supporting children with disabilities and their families, as well as promoting awareness and understanding of their needs.
Adnan El-Tahawi, Partnership Manager at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, noted that the project reflects the importance of transitioning from providing services to building a comprehensive rehabilitation system that responds to the actual needs of children. He also emphasized the project's focus on providing specialized services, supporting families, and promoting community awareness of the needs of people with disabilities. The project also invests in developing the capacities of specialized cadres, ensuring the continuity of services and contributing to building a more supportive and inclusive environment.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sharkawi El-Tahawi, Project Manager for People with Disabilities at the Hussainia Center in Sharqia governorate, highlighted the project's focus on providing specialized rehabilitation services based on the actual needs of children. He also noted the project's impact on supporting children and their families, as well as developing the capacities of specialized workers, ensuring the continuity of services. The project's extension of activities to schools and the local community is also seen as an important aspect of promoting awareness and inclusion.
The project has trained 15 specialists and employed four within its workforce, enhancing the readiness of work teams and the continuity of rehabilitation services. In addition to services provided within the units, the project has implemented awareness-raising activities in nearby schools, reaching three schools and benefiting 162 people, including 140 students and 22 teachers and school staff. These activities focus on introducing the needs of people with disabilities and appropriate methods of dealing with and communicating with them.
In the coming phase, the project will continue to expand its services and reach a larger number of children and families, while continuing community awareness activities, enhancing the project's sustainable impact within the local community. The project is a result of the partnership between TotalEnergies Adnoc Marketing and Misr El-Kheir Foundation, leveraging the expertise of both parties to support developmental and rehabilitation initiatives and provide specialized services that respond to the actual needs of beneficiaries.
