The Togolese government has launched the 2026-2027 national soybean production campaign in Lomé, aiming to increase national production, enhance local transformation, and strengthen the country's presence in international markets. The campaign, organized by the Interprofessional Council of the Soybean Sector (CIFS), focuses on improving sector performance and reinforcing partnerships among stakeholders. The initiative seeks to position Togolese soybean as a high-quality product globally.

The campaign's launch event featured the signing of interprofessional agreements between the three main components of the soybean sector: the National Federation of Soybean Producers' Cooperatives (FNCPS), the Togolese Soybean Transformers Association (ATTS), and the National Association of Soybean Traders and Exporters (ANCES). These agreements outline each organization's commitments and govern their contractual relationships to ensure a smooth campaign. The partnerships aim to facilitate the supply of raw materials to transformation units.

The government has defined procurement periods for soybean suppliers to enable transformation units to secure sufficient raw materials. The period for organic soybean runs from November 6 to December 5, while that for conventional soybean extends from November 6 to January 31, 2027. These deadlines allow transformers to build necessary stocks to sustain their activities. The agreements and defined periods demonstrate the stakeholders' commitment to a successful campaign.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Essiomle Komi, emphasized the need to strengthen Togolese soybean's position in the face of international competition. He highlighted the exceptional quality of organic soybean produced in Togo, stating that the country is a reference for high-quality organic soybean. Komi encouraged stakeholders to reinforce this positioning to boost the sector's growth and global recognition.

Koriko Mounirou, President of the CIFS Board of Directors, announced an ambitious production target of 300,000 tons of soybean seeds for the 2026-2027 campaign. He also revealed new commitments from stakeholders, particularly regarding product safety and quality. Mounirou mentioned that strict instructions have been given to ensure the delivery of high-quality soybean and that innovations have been introduced to secure and ensure the availability of raw materials.

The CIFS has introduced measures to support transformation units, including the extension of the moratorium period to give them more time to build their stocks. This move aims to guarantee a stable supply of raw materials and enable the units to operate efficiently. The campaign's success relies heavily on the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders involved.

As the 2026-2027 soybean production campaign unfolds, stakeholders will focus on meeting the production target and strengthening the sector's performance. The initiative's outcomes will be closely monitored, and the impact of the new agreements and measures on the sector's growth and global market presence will be assessed. The campaign's progress will be crucial in determining the future of Togolese soybean in the global market.
