Algerian industrial group Tirsam hosted a delegation from Japanese automaker Toyota at its Batna factory on October 7. The meeting focused on Tirsam's industrial capabilities and future partnership projects. Tirsam's CEO, Samir Maala, was present as the Japanese delegation toured the facilities to assess its infrastructure and production capacity.
The Toyota representatives were impressed by the modernity and availability of Tirsam's installations and industrial means. Discussions centered on upcoming joint projects and necessary arrangements for their launch. Tirsam aims to combine global expertise with national industrial ambitions. The group seeks to contribute to Algeria's industrial development, enhance national capacities, and increase integration rates.
Although Tirsam did not disclose specific project details or timelines, this collaboration follows a similar partnership with Chinese firm Sinotruk. In August, Tirsam welcomed Sinotruk's CEO, Liu Zhengtao, to its truck factory in Batna. This visit coincided with the production of Tirsam's 3,000th heavy truck and the launch of a new welding line project for heavy trucks.
The partnership with Sinotruk aims to boost technical capacities, increase national integration, and develop local subcontracting. The goal is to meet transportation and logistics sector needs, with potential future expansion to regional markets and exports. Liu Zhengtao stated that Tirsam's factory would become one of Sinotruk's largest outside China.
Tirsam has also announced the opening of orders for three bus models: TS09, TS11, and TS12, with capacities of 70, 51, and 100 passengers, respectively. These models support Algeria's national transport renewal efforts, which include the gradual withdrawal of buses over 25 years old.
This development in Algeria's automotive sector aligns with the country's push for industrial growth and diversification. Tirsam's collaborations with prominent international partners like Toyota and Sinotruk reflect its ambition to become a significant player in the industry.
As Algeria continues to focus on enhancing its industrial capabilities, partnerships like the one between Tirsam and Toyota will likely play a crucial role. The outcomes of these collaborations will be closely watched, both domestically and internationally, as indicators of Algeria's progress in the automotive sector.
