The University of Maroua, under the leadership of Pr. Idrissou Alioum, has taken comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth and successful academic year. The institution has implemented a three-level approach: before, during, and after the academic year. Before the start of the academic year, the university created an academic calendar with input from all establishments, which was then consolidated. The university also evaluated the previous academic year, concluding with the awarding of diplomas to engineering students at the École nationale supérieure des mines et des industries pétrolières in Kaélé on July 31, 2026.

The University of Maroua has made significant investments in infrastructure, adding 1800 new seating places, an auditorium with a capacity of 500, a polyvalent gym, 26 administrative offices, and six functional laboratories. To support students, the university has planned orientation days for new students, led by senior students and student associations. Additionally, the university's Centre for Medical Services (CMS) will conduct systematic medical visits. These initiatives aim to provide a supportive environment for students to excel academically.

The University of Maroua is committed to professionalizing education, a goal enshrined in the law of orientation of July 25, 2023. This vision is implemented at two levels: in specialized establishments like the École normale supérieure (ENS), the École nationale supérieure des mines et des industries pétrolières de Kaélé (ENSMIP), and the École nationale supérieure polytechnique de Maroua (ENSPM), which train professionals in fields such as teaching, engineering, and agriculture. The university also offers professional training in faculties, with a focus on transversal teachings oriented towards entrepreneurship, project management, and information systems.

The University of Maroua offers a wide range of professional training programs, with nearly 50 professional fields available. For the 2026-2027 academic year, 19 professional license programs (Diplôme d'études universitaires professionnelles, DEUP, and licenses) are offered across three faculties. Furthermore, 26 master's professional programs are available across four faculties. These programs aim to provide students with practical skills and knowledge that align with the needs of the professional world.

To ensure that its training programs align with professional needs, the University of Maroua has established several mechanisms. The university invites companies to participate in orientation days, allowing them to present their offers. It also engages professionals as lecturers or associated teachers, bringing their industry experience to the classroom. A professionalization committee, set up at the rectorate level, and the Assises de la professionnalisation, which map out teaching offers and assess their alignment with business needs.

The University of Maroua's efforts to foster entrepreneurship and innovation have yielded impressive results. Through its incubator, the university has produced over 21 start-ups and junior companies, as well as other promising ventures. Six inventions from the ENSPM have been secured with the OAPI, demonstrating the university's inventive and innovative dynamism. A notable example of success is Nassourou Ibrahim Midjaka, an engineer from the ENSPM's agriculture department, who has established a thriving business in rice production and marketing.

The University of Maroua plans to further strengthen its ties with the professional world by visiting successful companies created by its graduates each month. This initiative aims to inspire students and demonstrate the viability of entrepreneurship as a path to professional and social fulfillment. To support this goal, the university recognizes the need to create a favorable ecosystem for innovation, with performant small and medium-sized enterprises that can provide students with hands-on training through alternating periods of study and work.
