Tanzania's three-member women's golf team, consisting of Captain Madina Idd, Neema Olomi, and Hawa Wanyeche, is set to compete in the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, Nigeria. The team aims to bring home the championship, a prestigious biennial event that has attracted teams from 20 African countries. With their preparations complete, the Tanzanian trio is ready to take on some of Africa's leading women amateur golfers.

The tournament's official programme began on November 2, with the opening ceremony and parade of nations scheduled for November 3. The competitive rounds will be played from November 4 to 6, giving the Tanzanian team an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and challenge for the championship. Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president Timea Chongo expressed confidence in the team's abilities, stating that they have the experience and determination to compete for the trophy.

Chongo emphasized that winning the trophy is the country's primary objective and urged the team to remain focused, work collectively, and approach every round with the ambition of bringing the trophy home. Team manager Ayne Magombe shares Chongo's optimism, citing the players' experience, form, and motivation as key factors in their title challenge. Magombe expressed confidence in the team's abilities, stating that they are made up of good players with extensive experience.

Captain Madina Idd, who will lead the team on the course, expressed the team's readiness to compete and make Tanzanians proud. She emphasized that the players understand the responsibility of representing their country and are determined to give their best in every round. Tanzania has previous experience in the championship, having finished runners-up in Abuja in 2010 and Accra, Ghana, in 2018.

However, their latest appearance in 2024 ended with a fifth-place finish in Agadir, Morocco, where they recorded 476 strokes, finishing one stroke behind fourth-placed Uganda. Kenya took third place with 439, while Morocco won with 425, narrowly beating South Africa, who posted 427. These previous results highlight the challenge facing the Tanzanian golfers, particularly the importance of consistency across the three competitive rounds.

Madina's experience will be valuable, having won the individual title at the 2019 East and Central Africa Challenge Trophy with 220 strokes. The team's campaign has received support from various organizations, including the National Sports Council, CRDB Bank, Kago Logistics, Tanzania Breweries Limited, Saher, Tanzania National Parks, and Tanzania Golf Union.

As the team prepares to take on the best golfers from across Africa, they will look to build on their previous experiences and make history. With their skills, experience, and determination, the Tanzanian team is ready to compete for the championship and bring glory to their country.
