Sun Limited, a Mauritian hospitality group, has reported a 9.5% increase in revenue to Rs 1.5 billion for the first quarter of its 2026-2027 financial year. This growth is attributed to a 11.3% improvement in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). The company's hospitality revenue, excluding real estate activities related to "La Pirogue Residences," reached Rs 1.5 billion, up from Rs 1.3 billion in the same period last year.

The improvement in RevPAR and revenue is set against a backdrop of increased tourist arrivals in Mauritius. During the quarter, tourist arrivals rose by 7% to 373,770 visitors, compared to the same period in 2025. France remains the primary source market, accounting for 19.6% of arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom (10.9%), Germany (9.2%), and South Africa and Réunion (8.5% each).

Sun Limited's operational performance also showed improvement, with Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) reaching Rs 475 million, up from Rs 469 million in the same quarter last year. Excluding real estate activities, EBITDA increased by 14.9% to Rs 476 million. The EBITDA margin improved significantly, rising from 28% to 31.4%, reflecting the company's efforts to control costs.

The company's profit after tax was Rs 266 million, a 10.3% increase from Rs 241 million in the same quarter last year. However, excluding real estate activities, profit rose by 30.5% to Rs 265 million, compared to Rs 203 million previously. This comparison takes into account the fact that the first quarter of 2025 included a profit of Rs 39 million from the sale of units in La Pirogue Residences.

The profit attributable to Sun Limited's shareholders was Rs 254.5 million, up from Rs 220.3 million in the same quarter last year. Earnings per share increased from Rs 1.26 to Rs 1.46. The company's financial situation continues to strengthen, with its net debt standing at Rs 1.05 billion as of September 30, 2026, down from Rs 1.22 billion as of June 30, 2026.

Sun Limited's management expressed cautious optimism for the second quarter. The company has seen an increase in bookings compared to the same period last year. The 148 renovated rooms at Ambre Resort & Spa are now fully operational. Additionally, La Pirogue Residences is set to be marketed under the Estella brand starting December 1, 2026.

Subject to no further deterioration in the Middle East situation, Sun Limited expects an improvement in its financial performance for the quarter ending December 31, 2026, compared to the same period in the previous year. The company will focus on maintaining its cost control measures and benefiting from the ongoing growth in tourist arrivals in Mauritius.
