The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day processing of payments, reconciliations, budget monitoring, and statutory and grant compliance. The Finance Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring the organization's financial integrity by processing vendor and staff payments accurately and on time, maintaining clean and audit-ready reconciliations, and tracking restricted funds. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with 1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within an NGO or reputable organization.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Finance Assistant include payment processing and vendor management, reconciliations and financial reporting, budget support and monitoring, statutory compliance, finance risk management, grant and restricted fund compliance, and capacity building. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the Finance Officer and Finance Manager to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and to support decision-making.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for preparing and processing weekly vendor, service provider, and staff payments, and updating the payments and requisitions tracker. They will also review and process vendor and service provider invoices within 3 working days of receipt, check payment requests for completeness and approval, and file proofs of payment and supporting documents.
In terms of qualifications, the successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, enrollment in a professional accounting qualification, and practical experience processing payment requisitions and vouchers in a structured finance environment. They will also be proficient in QuickBooks or a similar accounting system, with working knowledge of statutory compliance requirements.
