The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has launched a FIFA Arena Project in partnership with Albert Academy and Bo School. The project aims to improve football infrastructure and create better opportunities for grassroots talent development. The agreements were signed at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown. SLFA President Babadi Kamara stated that the initiative is a pilot project that could pave the way for similar facilities at other schools across the country.

The project is being implemented through a counterpart funding arrangement between SLFA and FIFA. FIFA will provide materials and technical expertise, while local counterpart support in Sierra Leone will handle construction of the sub-base. Kamara noted that formal agreements with the beneficiary institutions were required before FIFA could release project materials. This arrangement ensures collaboration and shared responsibility between the parties involved.

Representing Albert Academy, Alumni President Zainab Attire Bangura expressed gratitude to SLFA and FIFA for selecting the school. She described the project as an important opportunity to provide young players with improved facilities and support the development of emerging football talent. This sentiment was echoed by Rev. Hassan Kainesie of Bo School, who welcomed the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening youth sports development in Sierra Leone.

The project is expected to improve school football facilities while supporting the development of young players and grassroots football across the country. By enhancing football infrastructure, the SLFA aims to identify and nurture talent from a young age. This could lead to a more competitive national team and increased participation in international football competitions.

SLFA President Babadi Kamara emphasized that the project is a priority for the association. He highlighted the importance of investing in grassroots football to ensure the long-term success of the sport in Sierra Leone. By partnering with schools, the SLFA is also promoting sports development in educational institutions.

The signing of the agreements marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the FIFA Arena Project. The project is expected to have a positive impact on football development in Sierra Leone. It also demonstrates the commitment of SLFA and FIFA to improving sports infrastructure in the country.
