Newly elected NPP National Youth Organiser, Abanga Fusani Yakubu, has expressed concerns over the government's 24-hour economy policy, questioning its practicality. He noted that if an office responsible for regulating the policy closes at 5 pm, how can businesses operating late into the night be monitored? Abanga made these comments on Joy News' PM Express, challenging the government's implementation plan.
Abanga Fusani Yakubu raised further concerns about who would monitor businesses operating during late hours, such as 2 am or 12 midnight. He accused the government of misleading Ghanaians with promises that seem impractical. According to him, the government's policies, including the 24-hour economy, are "scam lies" that lack substance.
The NPP National Youth Organiser also criticised the government for using social media to undermine the achievements of the previous NPP administration. He mentioned that the government is propagating lies and fake propaganda to sway public opinion away from the good policies and initiatives implemented by ex-President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Abanga Fusani Yakubu cited fuel prices as another area of concern, stating that prices have increased to GH¢20 and above. He also expressed worry about the decline in cocoa prices, comparing the current price of GH¢2000 to the GH¢3100 paid under the previous administration. He rejected explanations based on global cocoa price changes, arguing that these factors were known when the promises were made.
The NPP National Youth Organiser emphasised the need for the party to intensify its grassroots campaign ahead of the 2028 elections. He stressed that this requires hard work, sacrifice, and getting the right people on the ground to get the job done. Abanga Fusani Yakubu vowed to personally lead the party's youth mobilisation effort across the country.
Abanga Fusani Yakubu aims to mobilise enough support for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2028 election. He set a target of securing 4 million youth votes for Bawumia and plans to move across the country to achieve this goal. According to him, this is the only solution for Ghana's progress.
Abanga Fusani Yakubu concluded by stating that he will not be an armchair National Youth Organiser, but rather an active leader who will engage with the party's youth members in various regions and constituencies. He expressed his commitment to working hard to ensure the NPP's success in the 2028 elections.
