The Délégation provinciale de l’Éducation nationale, du Bilinguisme et de la Promotion civique, in collaboration with the Ouara department, organized a two-day workshop on artificial intelligence and computer basics. The event, which took place at the École normale d’instituteurs bilingue d’Abéché, was attended by sixty students from various public high schools in Abéché. The workshop aimed to introduce students to new technologies and equip them with tools to better understand the challenges of the digital world.

The workshop, which ran from October 30, 2026, was officially opened by the secrétaire général du département de Ouara, Mahamat ali imam. In his welcome address, the délégué provincial de l’Éducation nationale, du Bilinguisme et de la Promotion civique du Ouaddaï, Hissen ibrahim abdoulaye, expressed gratitude to the sponsor for their financial support, which made the workshop possible. He also welcomed the initiative, saying it would help students improve their understanding of artificial intelligence.

The workshop's theme, « Élèves et avenir : intelligence artificielle (IA) et fondements de l’informatique », reflects its focus on preparing students for the future. According to Adjim abel, chef de division informatique et formation au ministère de l’Éducation, the workshop provides an opportunity for students to strengthen their knowledge and improve their understanding of artificial intelligence. This, he believes, will enable them to better face the challenges of the digital age.

The workshop is part of a broader effort to promote digital literacy in Chad. The country's ministry of education has been working to integrate new technologies into the curriculum, with a focus on artificial intelligence and computer science. By targeting high school students, the workshop aims to inspire and equip the next generation of Chadian technologists and innovators.

In his remarks, Mahamat ali imam emphasized the importance of equal opportunities and access to quality education. He encouraged the students to take advantage of the workshop and to use the knowledge and skills gained to improve their future prospects. The workshop's organizers hope that it will have a lasting impact on the students and the wider community.

The event also highlights the collaboration between government agencies and stakeholders in promoting education and digital literacy. The Délégation provinciale de l’Éducation nationale, du Bilinguisme et de la Promotion civique, and the Ouara department worked together to make the workshop a reality. Their efforts demonstrate a commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the digital age.

Overall, the workshop represents a significant step towards promoting digital literacy and artificial intelligence in Chad's Ouaddaï region. By targeting high school students and providing them with hands-on experience, the event has the potential to inspire a new generation of technologists and innovators.
