Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's Linda Mwananchi Movement is expanding its political influence ahead of the 2027 General Election with a focus on constitutionalism, government accountability, and grassroots mobilisation. The movement recently rebranded from The Equitable Party (TEP) and has started recruiting members and establishing structures across the country. This effort aims to transform its growing political support into a nationwide grassroots network.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement took its campaigns to Kwale County, where Senator Sifuna challenged President William Ruto's administration to respect the Constitution, protect Kenyans' lives and rights, and ensure transparency in government projects. He criticised the secrecy surrounding major national projects, including the proposed Dangote oil refinery in Lamu and plans to privatise the Kenya Pipeline Corporation and the Kenya Ports Authority. Sifuna emphasised the need for public participation in projects involving national resources.

Senator Sifuna stated that constitutionalism and accountability would remain the movement's guiding principles, allowing Kenyans to exercise their constitutional rights without intimidation. The movement vowed to protect its votes in the 2027 elections and ruled out relying on court petitions to challenge disputed results. Instead, they plan to deploy agents at all polling stations to prevent electoral manipulation.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya urged politicians to rally behind Senator Sifuna, saying the movement would deploy agents at all polling stations to prevent electoral manipulation. He stated that the movement will not allow any manipulation by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission at the main tallying centre. The movement aims to have known the results by August 10 midnight.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi said the movement was prioritising nationwide membership registration and urged Kenyans to register online to strengthen its grassroots networks. Senator Sifuna also appealed to current ODM leaders to spare the family of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga from internal party disputes. He urged those who believed in Odinga's political ideals to remain in ODM.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement has announced plans to establish offices in all 47 counties by the end of November. It also plans to hold a National Delegates Convention on November 13 to formalise its leadership structure. The movement already has representatives in 38 counties as it seeks to expand its presence nationwide.

In Kwale, former ODM county chairman Hassan Mwanyoa led the delegation in engagements with local political aspirants and grassroots leaders. The caravan toured Samburu, Kinango, Mariakani, Kombani and Lunga Lunga before culminating in a rally at Ukunda Showground. Senator Sifuna urged local politicians to respect grassroots leaders and give priority to community representatives.
