A high-level Polish business and government delegation has concluded a successful multi-day tour of Uasin Gishu County with a vibrant gala dinner hosted by the County Government. The event, held under the leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, brought together county officials, local business leaders, and members of the visiting team led by Ms. Anna Bańkowska, Deputy Marshal of the West Pomeranian Region. The dinner marked the formal close of an intensive programme designed to open doors for Polish capital and expertise in various sectors.
Throughout the visit, the Polish team inspected key agricultural enterprises, health facilities, manufacturing plants, and potential investment sites across the county. They also held focused discussions with members of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), exploring concrete avenues for technology transfer, agricultural mechanisation, value addition, skills development, and two-way trade. The discussions aimed to identify opportunities for collaboration and investment in areas such as agriculture, agro-processing, machinery, ICT, railway engineering, cybersecurity, and industrial technology.
Speaking at the gala dinner, Governor Chelilim welcomed the visitors and underscored the county’s readiness for partnership. He expressed his satisfaction with the progress made during the visit, stating that the county is open for business and eager to work with Polish investors. The Governor emphasized the importance of moving from dialogue to delivery, highlighting the county's potential for job creation, modernization of farms, and industrial development.
Ms. Bańkowska expressed her satisfaction with the reception and the opportunities identified during the visit. She noted that the Polish delegation came to Uasin Gishu to listen, learn, and find partners who share their ambition for modern agriculture and industry. The Deputy Marshal praised the county's clear vision, strong leadership, and real potential, emphasizing that the friendships and business links formed during the visit will not end with the dinner but will be the beginning of lasting cooperation.
The colorful evening provided space for informal networking and the reaffirmation of mutual commitments. Officials on both sides indicated that follow-up teams would soon begin working on specific project proposals arising from the tour. The event demonstrated the growing interest in long-term investment partnerships between Uasin Gishu County and Polish investors.
Bilateral engagements of this nature between county governments and international development partners are increasingly vital in Kenya’s devolved system. Such engagements allow counties to move beyond national-level diplomacy and attract targeted foreign investment, technology, and markets that speak directly to local strengths. These partnerships can accelerate job creation, transfer practical skills, and position regions like Uasin Gishu as competitive investment destinations.
The Polish visit demonstrates how purposeful county-level diplomacy can convert goodwill into tangible economic progress. The visit has paved the way for future collaborations and investments in Uasin Gishu County, with both sides committed to working together to achieve mutual benefits. The county government and Polish investors are expected to work closely to implement project proposals and realize the potential for economic growth and development in the region.
