Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has urged the Prime Minister to take "necessary legal measures and adequate steps" to implement public policies, programs, and projects outlined in the 2026 draft rectified finance bill and 2027 draft finance bill. This request was made during a Council of Ministers meeting held on Wednesday, as reported in the meeting's communiqué. The President emphasized the importance of the government's continuity to establish credibility for the country's institutions.

President Faye instructed the Prime Minister to ensure the systematic implementation of public policies, programs, and projects integrated into the two budget plans, which have been submitted to the National Assembly. The President's request aims to ensure a smooth execution of the government's plans and maintain public trust in state institutions. According to the communiqué, the President also stressed the need for the government to take all necessary actions to achieve this goal.

In addition to implementing the budget plans, President Faye requested an integral evaluation of the implementation of the Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES) and the deployment of projects in priority sectors and areas, as outlined in the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda. This evaluation aims to assess the progress made so far and identify areas that require improvement. The President also instructed the government to take concerted actions to revive stalled economic activities and construction projects.

The President also emphasized the need to accelerate the execution of projects related to the construction and equipment of public health establishments, universities, and higher education institutions. These projects are expected to be completed with qualified personnel. Furthermore, President Faye called for the intensification of rural electrification and hydraulic projects, including the Grand Water Transfer (GTE) to the Touba-Mbacké agglomeration and a new multi-village drilling program.

Other instructions from President Faye include the rapid settlement of domestic debt in collaboration with private sector organizations and the financing of agricultural and horticultural product marketing campaigns. These measures aim to boost economic growth, improve living standards, and enhance the country's infrastructure. The President's directives are expected to be implemented promptly by the government.

The government's actions will focus on reviving economic activities, improving public services, and enhancing infrastructure. The implementation of the 2026 and 2027 budget plans is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economy and population. President Faye's instructions will be closely monitored to assess the government's progress in achieving its goals.
