A delegation from Rwanda's Ministry of National Education is in Djibouti for a 4-8 October 2026 study visit. The trip focuses on school textbooks and educational materials in French. Organized by the International Organization of La Francophonie through CREFA and Djibouti's Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFOP) through CRIPEN, the visit aims to enhance capacities in producing integrated school textbooks.

The study visit began with an atelier on the integrated production chain of French-language school textbooks at CRIPEN. MENFOP's Secretary General, Mohamed Abdallah Mahyoub, and CREFA Director, Rennie YOTOVA, sponsored the event. Around 20 officials and managers from relevant institutions attended. The atelier aimed to strengthen capacities in textbook production.

Dr Flora MUTEZIGAJU, Deputy Director General of Rwanda's Basic Education Board, expressed gratitude to MENFOP and CREFA for their warm welcome. She emphasized her delegation's keen interest in Djibouti's curriculum development and publishing chain. MUTEZIGAJU acknowledged the distinctive expertise of CRIPEN, MENFOP's operator in this field.

CREFA Director, Dr Rennie Yotova, highlighted the significance of exchanging experiences on textbook production stages. She stressed the value of collaboration between the two countries. MENFOP's Secretary General, Mohamed Abdallah Mahyoub, underscored the importance of studying Djibouti's school textbook production chain.

The atelier started with a presentation by Inspector General of National Education, Mohamed Abdo. He provided an overview of Djibouti's education system history and evolution. CRIPEN's Director of Pedagogical Research and Publishing, Chehem Abdallah Hassan, presented on school textbook production.

The presentations continued with a series of expositions on designing French-language textbooks, pedagogical validation, and alignment with national programs. These discussions facilitated knowledge sharing between the Rwandan and Djiboutian education officials.

The MENFOP and CREFA collaboration enabled this educational exchange. The visit demonstrates the commitment of both countries to improving education through international cooperation. Key officials expressed satisfaction with the progress of the visit and its potential benefits for future educational development.
