The Russian House in Tunisia, also known as the Russian Center for Science and Culture, has announced that Russia will offer 110 free government scholarships to Tunisian students for the 2026/2027 academic year. These scholarships will be available for various educational specialties, with over 400 options, including vocational training, master's, and doctoral degrees. The scholarships will be offered in more than 100 universities across major Russian cities.

According to Tahir Sheikh Islamov, representative of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tunisia, the scholarships aim to encourage Tunisian students to pursue their studies in Russia as part of the cultural exchange between the two countries. The center recently organized an exhibition, "Education in Russia 2026," in Tunis, which featured seven Russian universities, including five that offer online programs.

The exhibition provided an opportunity for Tunisian students to learn about the benefits of studying in Russia, with cultural events, documentaries, and presentations. Islamov added that in the 2025-2026 academic year, the center provided around 90 scholarships to Tunisian students, bringing the total number of scholarships awarded to Tunisian students over the past four years to approximately 1,000.

Currently, there are around 2,000 Tunisian students studying in Russia, both on free and paid programs. Hadi Ben Saleh, president of the Tunisian Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Institutes and Universities, estimated that around 5,000 Tunisian students and graduates have pursued higher education in Russia.

Ben Saleh emphasized the importance of Tunisia benefiting from Russia's openness to the African continent, particularly in education and scientific research. He suggested that Tunisia should establish partnerships with Russian universities and support scientific research between the two countries to develop economic relations.

The Russian House in Tunisia has been actively promoting educational opportunities for Tunisian students, providing them with information about various programs and scholarships available in Russia. The center's efforts aim to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Tunisia and Russia.

The scholarships offered by Russia to Tunisian students are part of a broader effort to promote international cooperation in education and strengthen relations between the two countries. Tunisian students interested in pursuing their studies in Russia can explore various options and programs available through the Russian House in Tunisia.
