The Russian House in Tunisia, also known as the Russian Center for Science and Culture, has announced that it will provide 110 free government scholarships to Tunisian students for the 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships will allow students to pursue higher education in Russia in over 400 fields of study, including vocational training, master's, and doctoral programs. The scholarships will be offered in more than 100 universities across major Russian cities.

The announcement was made by Tahir Sheikh Islamov, representative of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tunisia. He stated that the scholarships aim to promote cultural exchange and educational cooperation between Tunisia and Russia. The Russian House in Tunisia organized an exhibition, "Education in Russia 2026," to encourage Tunisian students to pursue their studies in Russia. The exhibition featured seven Russian universities, including five that offer online programs.

The exhibition provided an opportunity for Tunisian students to learn about the benefits of studying in Russia. It included cultural events, documentary screenings, and presentations on the advantages of Russian education. Islamov noted that in the 2025-2026 academic year, the Russian House in Tunisia provided 90 scholarships to Tunisian students. Since four years ago, Tunisia has benefited from around 1,000 scholarships.

According to Islamov, there are currently approximately 2,000 Tunisian students studying in Russia, both in free and paid programs. The majority of these students are pursuing higher education in fields such as engineering, medicine, and business. The Russian House in Tunisia aims to strengthen ties between the two countries and promote educational cooperation.

Hadi Ben Saleh, president of the Tunisian Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Institutes and Universities, stated that there are around 5,000 Tunisian students and graduates of Russian universities. He emphasized the importance of Tunisia benefiting from Russia's openness to the African continent, particularly in the fields of education and scientific research.

Ben Saleh highlighted the need for Tunisia to establish partnerships with Russian universities and support scientific research between the two countries. He believes that this is the key to developing economic relations between Tunisia and Russia. The Tunisian Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Institutes and Universities aims to promote cooperation and exchange between the two countries.
