Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced the launch of a new direct air route between Casablanca and Essaouira, starting November 1, 2026. The new route is part of efforts to strengthen domestic air connectivity and territorial integration in Morocco. The route will be operated with two weekly round-trip flights, offering a subsidized and fixed fare of 400 dirhams per trip in economy class.

The launch of this new route is a result of a partnership between several Moroccan government ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region. The new route aims to facilitate mobility for citizens and support the development of tourism and economy in the region.

The new route will be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays, with flight schedules as follows: departing from Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport on Wednesdays at 16:00 and arriving in Essaouira at 17:20, and on Sundays at 08:20 and arriving at 09:40. Return flights from Essaouira will depart on Wednesdays at 18:00 and arrive in Casablanca at 19:20, and on Sundays at 10:20 and arrive at 11:40.

The new route will connect Essaouira to RAM's national and international air network through Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport, which serves as the airline's main hub and connects Morocco to 86 international destinations. This development is expected to contribute to the growth of tourism in Essaouira and promote the city's history, culture, and civilization.

According to André Azoulay, advisor to King Mohammed VI and president-founder of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, the new air route will play a significant role in promoting tourism and showcasing Essaouira's rich history and culture. Azoulay emphasized the importance of sharing Essaouira's heritage with a wider audience.

Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, stated that the launch of this route aligns with RAM's strategy to 2030, aiming to strengthen connections between Casablanca and other Moroccan cities, while making air transport more accessible and affordable. Kayouh highlighted that this initiative is part of RAM's efforts to enhance its presence in Moroccan airports and stimulate tourism and economic activities.

The new route is expected to be boosted by RAM's upcoming delivery of new-generation aircraft, which will reduce travel time between Casablanca and Essaouira to under 30 minutes. With this development, RAM continues to expand its domestic network, having recently launched routes connecting Casablanca to Dakhla, Laâyoune, Ouarzazate, Zagora, Errachidia, Tan-Tan, and Boulemane.
