Retired Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Emeritus Patrick Tugume Tusingwiire, has called on Ugandans to prioritize living in harmony through good deeds, fostering peace and development. He made these remarks during the burial of David Katungwensi, held at All Saints Church in Rukungiri Municipality. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and community members who gathered to bid farewell to the late Katungwensi.

The burial ceremony began with a church service at All Saints Church, followed by the laying of the body to rest at Katenga Cell, Rwakabengo Ward, Southern Division of Rukungiri Municipality. During the sermon, Emeritus Patrick Tugume Tusingwiire emphasized the importance of cooperation and harmony in transforming communities into lasting development. He urged people to shun a chaotic world of wars, divisions, and hatred.

Canon Eva Tumuhairwe, wife of the late David Katungwensi, shared fond memories of her husband, describing him as humble, gentle, God-fearing, and hardworking. Born on August 11, 1934, Katungwensi lived to be 92 years old, passing away on September 28, 2026. He is survived by two children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren out of a family of eight children.

The children of the deceased, ACP Byabagye Moses and Grace Akampumuza, eulogized their father as a loving and caring parent who ensured they received education and basic needs. They noted that he led a peaceful life, passing away at an appropriate age without much suffering. The family and friends present at the ceremony acknowledged Katungwensi's legacy of kindness, love, and hard work.

Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba, represented by Brigadier General Jessy Kamunanwire, praised the late David Katungwensi for his cooperation and teamwork. Kamunanwire noted that Katungwensi's legacy would remain a source of inspiration for future generations, urging them to emulate his values of kindness, love, humbleness, and hard work.
