Dr. Tayo Dairo, a medical doctor turned electrical engineer, has founded Quintas Energies, a company dedicated to renewable energy solutions. With a background in medicine, Dairo has successfully transitioned into engineering, manufacturing inverters and exploring biomass energy. His company, Quintas Farm Gate Industries Limited, has developed innovative products, including a pyrolyzer that converts forest and agro residue into renewable energy. This technology has the potential to significantly reduce waste and promote sustainable production.

Quintas Energies focuses on repurposing biomass into various forms of energy, aligning with the circular economy model. This approach aims to reduce waste generation and promote sustainable production and consumption. The company's Proof of Concept laboratory in Idanre showcases its innovative products, including the pyrolyzer, which breaks down organic materials into useful products like biochar, wood vinegar, synthetic gas, and wood tar. These products drive the circular economy, allowing for the efficient use of resources.

The circular economy model fits into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's vision of creating a $1 trillion economy for Nigeria by 2030. To achieve this goal, Nigeria's economy must grow at a consistent annual rate of 7%. The private sector is expected to play a significant role, accounting for 86% of the financial resources needed. Quintas Energies' technology has the potential to contribute to this goal by harnessing Nigeria's abundant biomass resources.

Nigeria produces 63 million tons of municipal waste and 268 million tons of agro and forest residue, yet imports $425 million worth of pyroligenous acid (PA) for use in the agricultural value chain. Quintas Energies' technology can harness just 10% of forest waste and agro residue, potentially adding over $20 billion to Nigeria's GDP. This would not only boost the economy but also reduce PA imports.

The benefits of local production, as envisioned by Quintas Energies, include reduced production costs, job creation, and curb of rural-urban migration. Locating factories in rural areas near biomass sources will add value to local communities and contribute to Nigeria's GDP. Additionally, renewable energy solutions will help prevent or reduce carbon emissions.

The global market size of PA is projected to reach $77.54 billion by 2032, driven by its increased use in agriculture, waste management, and charcoal production. Africa's circular economy is projected to reach $546 billion by 2030, generating about 11 million jobs. Quintas Energies is well-positioned to capitalize on this growing market.

To mass-produce its technology, Quintas Energies requires funding to set up manufacturing outfits in various rural locations. With the right investment, the company can make a significant impact on Nigeria's economy and environment. Dr. Dairo's innovative approach has the potential to transform the renewable energy sector and contribute to Nigeria's economic growth.
