Chairman of the Progressives Governors' Forum and Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has intensified his mobilisation campaign for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election. As Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Uzodimma aims to take the message of the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots through an expanded communication and mobilisation network. This strategy includes a wider media and public enlightenment campaign.
The latest phase of the strategy involves a weekly television programme set to commence soon, deploying digital and new media platforms to enlighten Nigerians on Federal Government policies. The initiative, according to RHA Director of Logistics, Shehu Bala Usman, seeks to counter misinformation and improve communication between the administration and citizens. This approach aims to connect the government's reform narrative with voters at the grassroots.
The development comes amid renewed political exchanges involving Uzodimma and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. A group of lawyers recently called on Wike to stop personal attacks on Uzodimma, urging him to avoid conflict of interest and ensure proper coordination of efforts towards Tinubu's re-election. Uzodimma has chosen to focus on building a nationwide communication and mobilisation structure for the President.
The RHA had earlier unveiled a digital platform designed to aggregate policy experts, provide updates on government reforms, and disseminate information on Federal Government programmes. This platform integrates social media channels to widen its reach and provides for citizen engagement and feedback. The organisation's structures extend from the national level to states, local governments, wards, and polling units.
At a national mobilisation retreat in Abuja in June, Uzodimma warned that inadequate communication could create a distorted public perception of government policies and achievements. He urged supporters to take the administration's message directly to Nigerians at the grassroots, stressing the need for sustained communication of government policies and reforms.
As part of the mobilisation architecture, the governor disclosed plans covering the country's 176,846 polling units, with 25 canvassers proposed for each polling unit. This structure would produce approximately 4,421,150 grassroots mobilisers who would communicate the administration's programmes and mobilise support at the local level. Uzodimma has directed RHA national directors and coordinators to intensify grassroots mobilisation and public awareness of the Tinubu administration's programmes.
The expanded media strategy will serve as an information campaign and part of a broader grassroots communication network reaching communities, markets, campuses, wards, and polling units ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Uzodimma had earlier said the 2027 election would provide an opportunity for Nigerians to assess the Tinubu administration's reform agenda, arguing that supporters needed to do more to explain the policies and achievements of the government.
