The Jigawa State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against cattle rustling, arresting seven suspected members of a syndicate operating across three local government areas in the state. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the suspects were apprehended during routine patrols following intelligence gathered from members of the public. The operation resulted in the recovery of eight cows and two vehicles allegedly used by the suspects for their criminal activities.
The suspects, identified as Sulaiman Tijjani, Abdullahi Musa, Bala Muhammad, Isah Adamu, Yusuf Sa’idu, Mansur Usaini, and Kaku Abubakar, were arrested in various villages across the state. They are currently in police custody, assisting investigators with useful information. The police said the vehicles recovered included a dark blue Golf car and an ash-coloured Golf 3 Wagon, both registered in Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Tijjani Murtala, has commended the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance, courage, and professionalism. He also appreciated members of the public whose timely information contributed to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the livestock. The command said efforts are ongoing to identify other alleged members of the syndicate and recover additional rustled livestock.
