The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have collaborated to provide relief materials to families displaced in Ramin Kurah, Sokoto State. This joint effort aimed to address the immediate needs of vulnerable families residing in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp and neighboring host communities. The intervention was carried out by the ICRC/NRCS Protection Team.
A total of 100 households received child protection kits containing essential items for adolescent girls, adolescent boys, and newborn babies. These kits included vital items such as mats, detergent, mosquito nets, blankets, soap, petroleum jelly, and underwear. The distribution of these kits reflects the organization's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly children and families affected by displacement.
In addition to the child protection kits, 369 households received two mats each to improve their sleeping conditions and provide basic household comfort. This distribution was witnessed by officials from the Department of State Services, the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency, the League of NGOs, and other humanitarian partners.
