Nine-time Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba are still searching for their first point of the 2026/27 season after suffering a third consecutive defeat. Their difficult start continued at home as they were beaten 1-0 by Inter Lagos on Sunday. Ezekiel Moses scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute to condemn the Aba club to another defeat. Enyimba are now the only team yet to pick up a point after three matches.
Enyimba's struggles have seen them sink to the bottom of the 20-team table with a goal difference of -4. In contrast, Doma United remain top of the table despite losing heavily to Kano Pillars. Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring for Pillars in the 20th minute before captain Rabiu Ali doubled the advantage 13 minutes later. Ahmed Musa added a third in the 77th minute, while Nasiru Salihu also got on the scoresheet as Pillars completed a convincing victory.
Despite their 4-1 defeat, Doma United remain top with nine points from four matches, two points ahead of Barau FC. Kano Pillars moved into third place with seven points from three matches, level on points with Rivers United and Rangers International. The impressive form of Kano Pillars has seen them become one of the teams to beat in the early stages of the season.
Plateau United also have seven points after four matches following their 3-1 victory over Shooting Stars. After falling behind in the 15th minute, Jibrin Ibrahim put Plateau United back on level in the 50th before Seiyefa Jackson shot the home team ahead. Gideon Monday added a third in the 86th minute to send Shooting Stars back home empty-handed.
Abia Warriors secured their second win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos. Ikoi Etta broke the deadlock in the 88th minute before Emeka Obioma added a second in stoppage time. The win was a much-needed boost for Abia Warriors, who are looking to improve on their performance from last season.
Warri Wolves also recorded a narrow victory, beating Kwara United 1-0 through Ejike Ezekiel’s eighth-minute goal. Meanwhile, Nasarawa United and Rivers United shared the points after a 1-1 draw. Musa Yakubu converted a penalty in the 84th minute to earn a point for the Solid Miners. The draw was a fair result in a closely contested match.
In Owerri, there were plenty of goals as Rangers International overpowered Kun Kalifat 2-4 in the Oriental Derby. With three away wins in Lagos, Owerri and Aba, the 2026/27 NPFL season is increasingly unpredictable.
