The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has initiated a solar energy project to power hospitals, schools, security outposts, and other public facilities in Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State. The project was unveiled in Zaria, where the Speaker also commissioned and laid the foundation for various constituency projects. These projects are part of his efforts to improve the lives of his constituents.
The solar energy projects include a 110 kVA solar installation at Ahmadu Bello University's Kongo Campus, as well as the construction of a modern skills acquisition center and office accommodation for the National Directorate of Employment. The Speaker emphasized that these projects aim to provide essential services, create opportunities for learning and skills development, and enhance the overall quality of life in Zaria.
The solar systems will be installed in various locations, including health facilities, schools, security posts, mosques, and churches. The Speaker noted that the systems will be managed by young constituents who have been trained to handle them, ensuring that the investment lasts longer and the skills stay in the community. This approach is expected to build capacity and promote sustainability.
The skills acquisition center is designed to provide training that leads to trade and employment. The Speaker stated that he wants young women and men to leave the center with the skills to solve problems, serve customers, and earn a living. The center is expected to be a hub for skills development and job creation in Zaria.
The Speaker emphasized that the projects align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to bring national policies to life at the grassroots level. He stated that the projects demonstrate his commitment to turning national ambition into local reality and improving the lives of his constituents.
The Speaker urged his constituents to assess political leaders based on their performance, citing questions such as whether clinics have light, farmers can reach the market, and young people can find training and work. He encouraged them to vote for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections, emphasizing that this will enable them to deepen reforms and bring more opportunities to Zaria.
The Speaker's constituency projects have been ongoing for over three years, and he expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support. He urged his constituents to judge him by the projects he brings home and finishes, and to judge President Tinubu by the opportunities his reforms create.
