Algeria's Naama province has welcomed 80,372 students for the new academic year 2026/2027, an increase of 1,944 compared to the previous year. The students are distributed across 40,568 in primary school, 27,960 in middle school, and 11,844 in high school. The education sector in Naama province has been strengthened with the addition of 12 new educational institutions of various levels, completed according to technical and modern standards. These new institutions aim to improve the learning environment for students and reduce overcrowding in several educational institutions across the province's municipalities. This development is part of the state's efforts to support the education sector with necessary infrastructure.
The province has also made significant progress in sports infrastructure, with 15 modern sports fields to be completed between September and December 2026. Of these, two are for primary education and 13 for middle education. The project is being implemented by the Youth and Sports Directorate. Currently, the province has 174 primary schools, 59 middle schools, and 31 high schools.
In terms of support for underprivileged students, 19,628 scholarships of 5,000 Algerian dinars each have been disbursed. Additionally, 2,280 school bags are to be purchased by the Social Activity and Solidarity Directorate, 2,550 by the province, and 5,060 by the municipalities. These initiatives aim to support students in need and ensure they have the necessary resources for the academic year.
To facilitate access to educational materials, 12 book sales points have been set up across the province, in coordination with the Distribution and Documentation Centre. Additional sales points have also been established in partnership with the Trade Directorate, located in spaces such as the Traditional Industry House in Naama and the Cultural Centre in Ain Sfira.
The province has also made arrangements for student transportation, with 67 buses available for this service, of which eight are rented. A total of 2,054 students are expected to benefit from this service, distributed across the entire province. This initiative aims to facilitate students' movement to and from school.
Finally, students benefiting from the scholarship and those from the education sector will receive their textbooks free of charge directly from their educational institutions. This measure aims to support students and ensure they have access to necessary educational materials.
