The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing responsive and transparent regulatory support to investors as Puma Energy Ghana expands its investment in Ghana's Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector and the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM). This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by Pumagas, led by its General Manager, Lanzeni Coulibaly, to the Chief Executive of the NPA, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Puma Energy to formally introduce Pumagas, its subsidiary, as well as some of its key distributors and dealers to the NPA. During the engagement, Puma Energy presented its new branded LPG cylinders to Mr. Tameklo. These cylinders are part of the company's efforts to strengthen its participation in the CRM and improve access to safe and reliable LPG for consumers.
Mr. Tameklo emphasized the importance of effective collaboration between the regulator and industry players for the successful implementation of the CRM. He reaffirmed the NPA's commitment to providing continuous regulatory support to legitimate industry players and creating an enabling environment for sustainable investment in Ghana's downstream petroleum sector.
Puma Energy's growing participation in the LPG market comes as Ghana seeks to expand access to cleaner cooking fuels and achieve its target of 50 percent LPG penetration by 2030 under the Cylinder Recirculation Model. The company's investment in the LPG sector is expected to contribute to the government's goal of increasing the use of cleaner cooking fuels.
The NPA's support for Puma Energy's investments is part of its broader efforts to promote sustainable investment in Ghana's downstream petroleum sector. The authority has been working to create an enabling environment for investors, while also ensuring that the interests of consumers are protected.
The engagement between the NPA and Puma Energy highlights the importance of collaboration between regulators and industry players in driving growth and development in Ghana's energy sector. The NPA's commitment to providing regulatory support is expected to encourage further investment in the sector.
Puma Energy's investment in LPG and CRM is a significant development in Ghana's energy sector, and the NPA's support is expected to help the company achieve its goals.
