In a major move to consolidate political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the Directorate of Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. The event took place at the Women Stakeholders' Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-inauguration Campaign Roll-out 2027 in Abuja. Senator Tinubu announced that all independent support groups, including the Torchbearers, Tinubu Support Group, and Tinubu Again, have been merged into a unified campaign structure.
Addressing delegates under the campaign theme "Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity," the First Lady defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies, saying early reforms are now bearing tangible results for Nigerian families. She stated that the economy is stabilising, inflation is coming down, and foreign reserves are growing. Investors are returning to Nigeria, and farmers are receiving more support.
Senator Tinubu urged women to carry the message of economic progress back to their respective states. She described her husband as a leader courageous enough to make tough decisions for long-term growth. The First Lady noted that he is a leader who can be trusted to lead Nigeria into prosperity. She encouraged Nigerian women to remain steadfast as the party prepares to hit the campaign trail.
Outlining the campaign roadmap, the First Lady disclosed plans for nationwide outreach, including six zonal mega rallies leading up to a grand finale in the Federal Capital Territory. She revealed that she and Mrs. Nana Shettima would lead the zonal rallies, while designated state representatives would champion the campaign at the local level.
In a display of cultural unity, Senator Tinubu switched between Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba greetings to rally the multi-ethnic gathering. She declared that Nigeria is on the path of renewed greatness. The First Lady reaffirmed financial support for female candidates and delegates, confirming that financial mobilisation for candidates had been successfully disbursed.
