A youth leader in the Niger Delta, Comrade Lokiri Abraham Ogidi, has called on prominent leaders High Chief Kestin Pondi and Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to help address the challenges facing Ayakoromo community. Ogidi, who leads Ayakoromo Youth Leaders in Diaspora, made the appeal in a statement. He commended Pondi and Tompolo for their contributions to peace, leadership, and service to the Niger Delta people.
Ogidi described High Chief Kestin Pondi as a community-oriented leader, citing his accessibility, goodwill, and willingness to support causes affecting people in the region. He said leadership should remain connected to the grassroots and be measured by the lives touched and communities supported. According to Ogidi, those who have benefited from Pondi’s goodwill have every reason to appreciate his continued concern for the people and the region.
Ogidi also acknowledged Tompolo as an important stakeholder in issues relating to peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta. He stressed that sustainable development could not be achieved without peace, and that conflict, insecurity, and division could undermine the ability of communities to realise their potential. Ogidi emphasised that peace remains fundamental to sustainable development.
The youth leader appealed to Pondi and Tompolo to extend their goodwill to Ayakoromo and support efforts to address issues affecting the riverine community. He stated that the people of Ayakoromo respectfully appeal to these two distinguished Niger Delta leaders to continue extending their goodwill towards the community. Ogidi noted that their support could help draw greater attention to the community’s development needs.
Ogidi said the development needs of Ayakoromo should not be seen as the responsibility of government alone, noting that stakeholders, community leaders, and sons and daughters of the region also had roles to play. He urged Pondi and Tompolo to consider supporting and intervening, where possible, in matters affecting the community.
According to Ogidi, meaningful interventions would remain part of Ayakoromo’s collective history. He expressed appreciation for acts of kindness, support, and concern extended to the community. Ogidi encouraged the two Niger Delta stakeholders to continue using their influence to promote peace, unity, and the wellbeing of the people.
Ogidi further commended High Chief Kestin Pondi and Chief Government Ekpemupolo for their contributions to the region and respectfully encouraged them to continue using their influence in ways that promote peace, unity, and prosperity. He stated that leadership is ultimately remembered by the lives it touches and the communities it helps to uplift.
