Moroccan Minister of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy Samir Belfkih and Minister Delegate for Housing and City Policy Fatima Saadi visited the Tarfaya region to inspect several development projects. They were accompanied by Wali of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra Abdeslam Bekrate, Governor of Tarfaya Province Mohamed Hamim, and President of the Regional Council Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid. The visit aimed to assess the progress of various initiatives aimed at improving living conditions for local residents.

The ministers visited the Amgriou fishing village, where they reviewed the construction of new housing for fishermen and launched the construction of a wastewater treatment station. Another similar station will be built in the Aftissat fishing village. These projects are part of a larger program to develop and upgrade fishing villages in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region. The program covers four sites: Amgriou, Agti El Ghazi, Aftissat, and Lakraa.

The program, worth 420 million dirhams, will benefit 1,933 families, including 711 in Amgriou. The initiative includes 291.5 million dirhams for land development and encouraging self-construction, with the ministry contributing 154.41 million dirhams. The program also involves establishing water, electricity, and sanitation networks, developing roads, and providing community equipment.

Minister Fatima Saadi emphasized that the visit demonstrates the government's ongoing commitment to developing Morocco's southern provinces. She stressed that defending the country's territorial integrity goes hand-in-hand with sustained efforts to improve citizens' living conditions. Saadi highlighted the importance of upgrading fishing villages and enhancing housing conditions for concerned families.

The program also includes a 65 million dirham project to upgrade territorial communes in Tarfaya, Akhfennir, Tah, and Doura, fully financed by the ministry. The project has a 69% completion rate. Additionally, the ministers reviewed the development program for the emerging center of Akhfennir, worth 77 million dirhams, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Public Performance and the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council.

The Akhfennir program aims to strengthen infrastructure, upgrade under-equipped neighborhoods, develop public and community facilities, and protect the environment. The ministers also visited the Laâyoune Urban Agency and launched the development of Mohamed Salem Beiddah Avenue. The visit showcased the government's efforts to improve living conditions and infrastructure in the region.

The development projects in Tarfaya reflect Morocco's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
