Morocco's Laboratory of Social Dynamics has issued a national call for research proposals on pastoralism and transhumance in Morocco. The project aims to study the world of pastoralism in its historical, spatial, and cultural diversity. Researchers from various disciplines are invited to submit original proposals that contribute to the renewal of knowledge on pastoralism and transhumance in Morocco. The project is part of a scientific initiative that includes a national symposium and a collective book.

The research project will focus on several themes, including the forms of pastoralism and transhumance, the distribution of herds and local breeds, and the management of pastures and water resources. The project also aims to study the cultural and social aspects of pastoralism, including the knowledge and practices of herders, and the impact of climate change and land use on pastoralism. Researchers are encouraged to submit proposals that address these themes and contribute to a better understanding of pastoralism and transhumance in Morocco.

The Laboratory of Social Dynamics welcomes proposals from researchers in various disciplines, including anthropology, sociology, geography, environmental science, and veterinary medicine. The proposals should be based on clear research questions, well-defined methodologies, and documented data. The laboratory particularly encourages fieldwork-based, ethnographic, historical, and archival research, as well as multidisciplinary approaches.

The submission guidelines require proposals to be sent in a Word document, including the research title, a 250-word abstract, and a brief CV of no more than 150 words. The abstract should explain the research topic, its problematic, methodology, and expected outcomes. Proposals should also include five keywords and contact information. The deadline for submitting proposals is November 10, 2026.

The selected proposals will be announced on November 15, 2026. Researchers whose proposals are accepted will be required to submit a full research paper of between 5,000 and 6,000 words by February 28, 2027. The research paper should be original and not previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The laboratory will provide detailed guidelines for documentation, editing, and preparation of the final text to accepted researchers.

The project is part of a broader initiative to promote research and knowledge on pastoralism and transhumance in Morocco. The laboratory hopes that this project will contribute to a better understanding of the complex relationships between humans, animals, and the environment in Morocco. The project will also provide a platform for researchers to share their findings and contribute to the development of policies and strategies related to pastoralism and transhumance.

The Laboratory of Social Dynamics can be contacted via email at [email protected] or via WhatsApp at 0662549776 for further information and clarification on the submission process. Researchers are encouraged to submit their proposals and contribute to this important research project on pastoralism and transhumance in Morocco.
