The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has praised His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, for championing initiatives that promote household wealth creation and complement government programs. This commendation was made during the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of the Kyabazinga held at the Mayuge District Headquarters. The event was attended by thousands of Basoga and notable figures, including the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.
The coronation anniversary was celebrated under the theme “Strengthening Our Cultural Norms and Values for Development.” Minister Babalanda expressed her gratitude to the Kyabazinga for sending a delegation to represent Busoga at the burial of the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro. This gesture was highly appreciated by the Minister, who acknowledged the Kyabazinga's efforts to foster relationships with other kingdoms.
Minister Babalanda also hailed the Kyabazinga for his recent visit to Budiope West Constituency, where he launched the construction of school dormitories and a kitchen at Kitaidhumbwa Community Primary School. During the visit, the Kyabazinga distributed cocoa seedlings and encouraged the people to grow coffee and cocoa as long-term cash crops for sustainable household incomes. This initiative aligns with the government's wealth creation agenda and aims to improve the livelihoods of the people of Busoga.
The Minister praised the Kyabazinga's focus on skilling the youth across Busoga, noting that it complements the Presidential Skilling Hubs established by President Museveni to tackle unemployment and poverty. She encouraged the people of Busoga to embrace government programs, including the Youth Livelihood Programme, Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the Four-Acre Model, as viable pathways out of poverty.
In addition to commending the Kyabazinga, Minister Babalanda rallied Basoga to participate in the 4th Edition of the Busoga Prayer Week for all denominations, organized by the Busoga Consortium for Development. The prayer week is scheduled to take place from Monday, 21st to Saturday, 26th September 2026, and aims to pray for Busoga and Uganda. She also mobilized the people of Busoga to join her on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, at Iringa Township Primary School, Nkondo Sub-County, Buyende District.
