MauBank, a leading bank in Mauritius, has reported a significant increase in its profit before tax for the financial year ended 30 June 2026. The bank's profit before tax rose by 30% to Rs 1.18 Bn, compared with Rs 908 Mn in the previous financial year. This marks the bank's third consecutive year with profit after tax above Rs 800 Mn. The bank's performance was underpinned by continued growth in its core activities.
The bank's profit after tax reached Rs 878 Mn, an increase of 6% from Rs 829 Mn in 2025. However, corporate tax contribution increased by 3.8 times, or more than 277%, from Rs 79 Mn in 2025 to Rs 298 Mn in 2026. This significant increase moderated the growth in profit after tax. The bank's net operating income increased by 8% to Rs 2.88 Bn, compared with Rs 2.67 Bn in 2025.
Lower net impairment charges also supported the growth in profit before tax. Interest income rose by 7% to Rs 3.22 Bn. Non-interest income, before fee and commission expenses, increased by 32% to Rs 1.20 Bn, reflecting stronger trading and other income and improved results from investment disposals. Net trading income rose by 12% to Rs 708 Mn.
MauBank continued to expand both sides of its balance sheet during the year. Net loans and advances to customers grew by 13% to Rs 34.06 Bn, while customer deposits rose by 18% to Rs 59.85 Bn. Total assets increased by 18.5% to Rs 68.23 Bn at 30 June 2026, compared with Rs 57.57 Bn a year earlier.
Commenting on the results, Issa Soormally, Officer-in-Charge of MauBank, said that the bank's performance reflects the continued expansion of its customer franchise, with solid growth across both lending and deposits. He emphasized that the bank's priority now is to build on this momentum by converting the bank's increased scale into sustainable earnings growth.
Sanjay Matadeen, Chairman of MauBank, expressed his satisfaction with the bank's progress, citing the positive growth in deposits, loan portfolio, assets, and profits. He also highlighted that the bank's board of directors commends the efforts of staff members and is reassured of the continued trust of customers and stakeholders.
