Detectives in Athi River, Machakos County, are investigating the suspected killing of a 42-year-old matatu tout whose body was found at Sophia Footbridge. The deceased was identified as Francis Musoma Waita, a tout with a local SACCO. Police officers who visited the scene found Waita's body at the footbridge, with deep cuts on the head.

The injuries suggested that Waita may have been attacked. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Kitengela documented and processed the scene. The body was taken to Shalom Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police said investigations were underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

In a separate incident, police in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County, are investigating the reported killing of an 85-year-old man following a night-time incident at his home in Pehoni village. The deceased was identified as Tsuma Kombo. Police reports indicate that he was attacked while asleep in his house, with his neck reportedly cut using a sharp object.

Preliminary police inquiries indicate that entry into the house may have been forced through the main door, which was reportedly broken before the incident. Investigators photographed and processed the scene before the body was taken to Msambweni Sub-County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Police said inquiries were continuing to establish what happened and identify those who may have been involved in the killing of the 85-year-old man. The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in the area, with residents calling for increased police presence.

Elsewhere, police in Bondo, Siaya County, are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was found in a thicket in Atilili Village, Barkaowino Sub-location. The body, believed to be that of a man in his late twenties, was found on Monday, November 2, 2026, in a wooded area near a narrow footpath in the Panas area, off the Bondo-Misori route.

The man had what appeared to be a blunt-force injury on the left side of his head and was wearing a reflector jacket. The man's identity had not been established, as none of the villagers who gathered at the scene was able to identify him. Police said the circumstances surrounding the suspected killing, including any possible motive, remained under investigation.
