David Musisi Ssekyondwa has been arraigned before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the alleged forgery of a land title in Bunamwaya, Wakiso District. According to the prosecution, Ssekyondwa forged a transfer form in 2018, purporting to have been signed by Mukabya Sentamu Augustine, the proprietor of the land comprised in Block 265 Plot 4690, Bunamwaya, Wakiso District. He allegedly used the forged transfer form to claim that he had purchased the land from Mukabya. This led to an attempt to have the land transferred into his name at the Wakiso Lands Office.
The prosecution further alleges that Ssekyondwa presented a forged transfer form and a false passport bearing Mukabya’s details at the Wakiso Lands Office. This was part of his attempt to obtain the land title. In a separate incident in January 2019, Ssekyondwa allegedly forged and presented another transfer form, purporting to transfer the same piece of land from his name to Biira Udear, falsely claiming that Biira was the proprietor of the land.
The case involves eight counts of forgery, uttering false documents, and fraudulent procurement of a certificate of title. Ssekyondwa’s actions are alleged to have been carried out with the intention of defrauding Mukabya and acquiring the land unlawfully. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit said the case was handled in collaboration with CID and the ODPP, indicating a joint effort to combat corruption and land fraud.
The land in question, Block 265 Plot 4690, is located in Bunamwaya, Wakiso District. The dispute over this land has led to Ssekyondwa’s arrest and prosecution. The court case aims to determine the rightful ownership of the land and bring those responsible for the alleged forgery to justice.
