A team from Mali's National Health Insurance Fund (CANAM) recently visited the Koulikoro region from September 21-25, 2026, as part of its periodic affiliation and registration control campaign for public and private enterprises in the first half of 2026. The team comprised agents from various departments, including Support for Delegated Managing Bodies, Organization and Quality Control of Care, and Communication and Public Relations.
During their visit, the CANAM team met with officials from the urban commune's town hall, health centers, the National Social Security Institute (INPS), and industrial units. The goal was to emphasize the importance of registering for compulsory health insurance (AMO) and explain its benefits. They also discussed the Universal Health Insurance Scheme (RAMU), which aims to extend health protection to the entire population.
The discussions focused on the employer's obligations, insured individuals' rights, and practical affiliation procedures. CANAM agents addressed concerns, clarified misconceptions, and provided accurate information on the regime's functioning. By engaging with employers and workers directly, CANAM aims to promote a better understanding of the AMO and its role in building a comprehensive health coverage system.
The CANAM team highlighted how AMO registration contributes to the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage. They explained that the RAMU seeks to provide health protection to all Malians, and that AMO is an essential part of this effort. By registering for AMO, employers and workers can ensure access to quality healthcare services.
The sensitization campaign also provided an opportunity for CANAM to reaffirm its commitment to making health coverage accessible to all Malians. The team encouraged employers and workers to take an active role in promoting health insurance and to contribute to the development of a solidarity-based system.
According to CANAM, the campaign has yielded positive results, with increased adhesion and improved understanding of the AMO and RAMU. By continuing to engage with public and private enterprises, CANAM aims to expand health insurance coverage and promote a culture of solidarity and mutual support.
The success of the sensitization campaign in Koulikoro demonstrates the importance of targeted outreach and education in promoting health insurance. CANAM's efforts to raise awareness and address concerns have helped to build trust and encourage registration for AMO, ultimately contributing to the goal of achieving universal health coverage in Mali.
